Description
Cafesmo is a collaboration of over 280 producers, officially formalized in 2016. Most of the individual plantations within the organization are relatively small (from 2 to 12 hectares), but they believe that unity equals strength.
All of Cafesmo’s farms are FTO and Rain Forest Alliance certified. Farmers look after the varieties grown in the region very carefully, making sure that the plants are cultivated in the best way they can in the given terroir. By expanding producers’ knowledge about Mercedes’ and Ocotepeque’s micro-climate and growing techniques, Cafesmo is now able to offer multiple specialty profiles for both single origins and blends.
The coffees for Cafesmo blends are always cultivated above 1100 MASL. By mixing several varieties, they are able to achieve more complexity without losing the uniqueness of individual cultivars.
